Dana Longton established Sage Ashtanga Yoga in 2012.

Dana is an advanced practitioner and experienced teacher of Ashtanga yoga. She has been practicing yoga daily since 2003 and teaching since 2005 under the tutelage of Gregor Maehle and Monica Gauci. She is privileged to have Graeme and Leonie Northfield as longtime mentors. She is a Registered Level 3 Senior Teacher with Yoga Australia. Dana was a teacher (from Jan 2005 to Oct 2015) and teacher trainer (from 2012 to 2015) at 8 Limbs Ashtanga Yoga.

We start yoga for many reasons and often end up staying with it for reasons other than what we had originally come for. Once the door has been opened the possibilities for growth and change are endless. This beautiful ancient practice is a chance for us to return home to the Divine within, a chance to to get out of the busy-ness of our head and reconnect with the serenity and wisdom of our heart. When we come in to our heart-space we allow for healing to occur, this process is transformative and exquisite. I am honoured and blessed to be able to create a space and share this with others.

Since completing 8 Limbs 3-year Teacher Training (over 750 hours) in 2006, Dana has been committed to the ongoing formal study of Yogic Philosophy, Kriya, Pranayama, Pratyhara, Dharana and Dhyana with her teacher Gregor Maehle. She continues to dedicate much time to applying these higher limbs to make them an integral part of her daily journey.

In 2012 she embarked upon and continues the formal learning of the Sanskrit language under the tutelage of Dianne Kruger at the WA School of Philosophy.


Dana travels overseas to spend time with Graeme and Leonie Northfield twice a year for ongoing mentorship and support. She is offered guidance and instruction not only in her own personal practice but in appropriate teaching methods, skills and systems.

Dana’s enthusiastic and genuine approach, her focus on attention to detail and her ability to apply this knowledge practically, makes her classes fun, informative and accessible to students of all levels.

Dana’s classes have a strong focus on correct alignment and technique without losing sight of the synchronicity of the breath and bandhas. Most importantly her classes are joyful and light hearted, an oasis from the seriousness of everyday life.

Passing on to students the importance of the integration of all 8 limbs into one’s life both on and off the mat rather than focusing solely on the physical practice is an aim of Dana’s.
