Our Sage Beginnings Ashtanga beginner course will enable you to build a yoga practice from the ground up, giving you the wonderful gift of an age-old dynamic sequence of postures linked with dedicated mindful breath and energy holds; a moving meditation that can be practiced anywhere, anytime, resetting and reminding you of your ability to heal and harmonise your-Self.

The course will offer a comprehensive look at the foundations of the Ashtanga system whilst learning the sequence slowly but surely. Each week will build upon the previous, assisting with and enabling the sequence to be remembered and leading toward a solid, safe Mysore style (self) practice.

Students will learn
  • To become breath aware; techniques to lengthen and strengthen the breath
  • To synchronise breath and movement, the foundation of a moving meditation practice
  • To ignite core strength, awaken subtle internal pathways and stabilise the joints
  • To better recruit muscles, leading to more functional movement patterns
  • The building blocks that make up the foundation of the Ashtanga Yoga system (sequence of postures, accompanying breath, energetic holds)
  • Techniques to help relieve stress, improve sleep patterns and increase energy levels and a sense of well being
  • An introduction to the philosophy of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga (eight limbed pathway)
  • To develop an awareness of your Self, recognising harmony, healing and balance within your own  Being and thus being your own best teacher to ensure a sustainable, safe and enjoyable practice
  • To have fun and a laugh with likeminded people
We offer this course in two formats
  • Early mornings 2 classes a week for 5 weeks to learn the foundations and establish the practice
  • Or 1 class per week for 5 weeks, with an option to continue on for a further 5 weeks to consolidate and commit
  • Early mornings 2 classes per week for 5 weeks (10 classes) – $165
  • Weekend 1 class per week for 5 weeks (5 classes) – $95
  • Weekend continued… 1 class per week for 5 weeks to practice the foundations – $95
